Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
