Cardiff will welcome the first match of Euro 2028, while penultimate matches and final are scheduled for Wembley in London

Nine locations in four co-hosts - England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland - will present the European championship

Games were earlier considered for the northern territory, but the proposed Belfast venue was excluded due to funding issues

UEFA's decision to play the opening match in the Welsh capital was finalized as the tournament was publicly unveiled on Wednesday

"This marks the first time that '{The Red Wall' - our passionate Wales fans - will enjoy a prestigious competition on home soil," remarked Welsh football governing body top administrator the organization's leader

In contrast to past tournaments, participating countries must qualify for the upcoming championship, though they would be promised to compete in initial matches on home turf if they earn automatic entry

The participating countries will each be in distinct preliminary sections, with two positions also allocated for the highest-ranked of those teams who don't make it through regular qualification routes

Event Organization

Elite stage games will be held at the Welsh national venue, Dublin's Aviva Stadium, Scotland's national stadium and Wembley - which had earlier staged penultimate and championship matches in the 1996 edition and for the postponed tournament

Manchester's venue, where the English side would start their journey if they qualify directly, before switching to the national stadium, is part of multiple other stadiums being utilized in England

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Villa Park, Liverpool's new arena and Newcastle's stadium are the additional venues that will be employed across the 51 matches overall

Financial Benefits

The UK government says it is allocating £557m to hold the championship but anticipates a economic benefit of billions of pounds due to job creation, area improvement and overseas tourism

"Euro 2028 will be the most significant occasion ever collaboratively staged by the host countries and, as a passionate enthusiast, I know how much international competitions like this are important," commented UK Prime Minister

With an standard seating arrangement of just under substantial numbers, tournament organizers estimates that greater attendance than ever before will attend matches at a European Championship finals
