Ahead of marking his sixth anniversary at the helm, Mikel Arteta has made it clear that his future at Arsenal is fundamentally dependent to delivering trophies.
The Journey So Far: The Arteta Era
The Spanish coach was appointed on the 20th of December in 2019 and managed to steer the team to an cup win not long after. However, that initial silverware stands as his sole significant piece of silverware since succeeding Unai Emery.
“I can,” he stated upon being asked about staying beyond 2027. “Yet it's about today. And numerous factors need to fall into place in the coming months as well to earn the right.”

Even with the fitness woes and the high-stakes environment, Arteta believes the club's “priorities and messaging” are profoundly distinct from when he first arrived.
The manager referenced the team's performances as evidence of progress. “You look at the performances, all the records that we... were breaking... We still have yet to do that [win trophies]. But that indicates the caliber we've reached.”
Arteta concluded, “It represents a quality that the Premier League has never experienced in the past. And our ambition is to achieve greater objectives. And if we do that, I think we are on the correct trajectory to winning.”
