Declan Rice Set-pieces on corner kicks and free kicks were dangerous. Enjoyed freedom to roam down the left flank only to be in an offside position as the pass came in shooting positions. Granted a merited break after an hour. 6/10

The star midfielder Played in a forward position on the right while also put in the hard yards. Demonstrated glimpses of brilliance and scuffed a shot over. Replaced late on for a teammate, his competition, after receiving a caution. 7

The winger Had England’s top opening in the opening period, his strike smartly stopped from Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate hanging back, he was forced to stretch the play out wide yet his deliveries into the box varied in quality. Substituted with 15 to go. 6

Harry Kane The difference-maker netting seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth goals at international level. The first a classic opportunist's goal and the second a superb headed goal after peeling away from his marker. Now 32, his form is unwavering and the side are strong contenders next summer with him up top. 8/10

The attacker Found it tough to influence play from the left. Was presented with a good opening after being played in by the midfielder but the keeper denied him. Rashford produced a bigger influence in his place. 5
