Recent Details Emerge Concerning the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies
New information has come to light regarding the tragic demises of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Alarm
A source indicates citing a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
After gaining access to the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained and denied bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
Furthermore disputed published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to accounts of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the family home. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
