Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Lift Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in the Middle East.

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice late to take a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen years.
