Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
