Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Concerns.

'Major setback' for the touring side after Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.

The pace bowler increased the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the field on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson felt a problem in his left hamstring post-delivery in his spell on Saturday.

The touring camp indicated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and required time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "during the day".

The concluding match of the tour at the SCG gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have already lost key quicks Mark Wood with a knee problem and another paceman because of a side injury during this series.

A replacement bowler was called up as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was left out from the previous Test, then recalled for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.

Surrey's Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, then making 28 with the bat as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

Post a single over in Australia's second innings, he came back on Saturday morning and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Yet, at the end of his spell, he sent down a slower ball to Travis Head and immediately felt for his hamstring.

The English bowler was recalled for the Boxing Day Test after being left out the Adelaide game.
