American Law Enforcement Report Arrests in Foiled Year-End Explosive Plan Near Los Angeles

Law enforcement officials announced on Monday that they had successfully thwarted a detailed scheme to set off explosive devices at several sites belonging to two US-based firms on New Year's Eve in the LA region. This action followed the detainment of suspects linked to an militant offshoot promoting anti-corporate and anti-establishment beliefs.

Those Arrested Detained During Remote Rehearsal

The four individuals were detained last Friday in the remote area located east of Los Angeles as they were according to officials practicing their intended attack. Officials showed aerial reconnaissance images to journalists, that depicted the individuals carrying a large obscure device to a surface. Authorities noted that the detainments occurred ahead of the group could assemble a operational IED.

Identities of the Accused Released

According to the public criminal complaint, the four suspects named are Carroll, aged 30; Zachary Aaron Page, 32; Dante Gaffield, 24; and Tina Lai, who is 41. Each of them are understood to be from the greater Los Angeles area.

Alleged Driving Force and Connections

Although prosecutors did not clearly detail a rationale, they stated the suspects are adherents of a splinter group known as the Turtle Island Liberation Front. This organization according to documents advocates for "the working class to rise up and fight back against the capitalist system," based on the legal filing.

Each suspect is charged with involve plotting and owning a destructive device. Officials stated that additional charges are likely in the coming weeks.

Elements of the Reported "Midnight Sun Operation"

Authorities revealed that one of the accused had created a meticulous blueprint last month to target five or more corporate facilities across Southern California on New Year's Eve. The locations were likened to "like Amazon" logistical hubs.

"The bomb plot was explicit," a prosecutor stated. "It laid out step-by-step instructions to construct explosive devices … and identified several targets across Orange county and Los Angeles."

Based on the investigation and court documents, the scheme entailed placing backpacks packed with sophisticated pipe bombs that were set to be detonated all at once at midnight on New Year's Eve at 5 places. New Year's Eve was identified as an ideal time since the plan noted "celebratory explosions will be going off at this time so explosions will be more difficult to be detected."

The eight-page manually written document, called "OPERATION MIDNIGHT SUN," noted that additional targets could be incorporated. The facilities were described as property and buildings operated by two different companies involved in business involving national and international trade.

Future Schemes and Proof Seized

Court documents also stated that two individuals in the collective had discussed future strikes targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel and transport with pipe bombs in 2026. One individual according to the complaint commented that such strikes "would take some of them out and frighten the rest of them."

Such discussions were allegedly talked over both at an face-to-face meeting in Los Angeles and through an encrypted communication application.

Photos included in the legal filings reveal a isolated site with what officials identified as bomb-making components laid out on plastic folding tables.

The complaint states that the suspects "carried explosive materials to the site, among them various sizes of tubes, believed to be an oxidizer, charcoal briquettes, charcoal powder, another chemical, and items to be used as igniters, along with other items."

The scheme also had directions on how to build the explosives and how to prevent leaving traces that could be linked back to the group. The accused had recently purchased chemical ingredients and other items, including buys from e-commerce sites.

Operation and Aftermath

The FBI took action last week when the group were rehearsing the operation in the desert near a desert community. "They possessed everything they required to make an operational bomb at that location," the attorney stated.

As part of executed raids, investigators allegedly found signs for the Turtle Island Liberation Front at one suspect's home that advocated "Down with America", and "Eliminate ICE". At another individual's home, police found a copy of the detailed attack blueprint.

Those arrested were arrested peacefully. They were scheduled to appear in court in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
